Unified PORTAL

PROJECT

Pepsico is exploring the potential to integrate multiple applications into a unified portal.

PROBLEM

From the perspective of stakeholders, opinions vary on the feasibility and value of pursuing this initiative.

GOAL

Create a prototype that allows users to evaluate the functionality of a universal portal, where functions can potentially be shared.

Stakeholder Interviews

I initiated the process by engaging in discussions with stakeholders of various Pepsico apps to understand their vision for an app portal and to identify any potential obstacles they foresaw.

Stakeholder interviews

WHAT I LEARNED

Each stakeholder offering a unique perspective on their vision for a portal. However, as the discussions progressed, common talking points emerged, highlighting essential features perceived as crucial for the success of such an application.

For Users:
• The ability to see all approved apps
• The ability to request access
• The ability to modify access

For Administrators:
• The ability to approve/deny access
• The ability to set up users with varying admin functionality

ExplorationS

Following the interviews, the next step was delving into the visual representation of the app. Although I had a few initial sketches, it was time to materialize them in Figma. Naturally, I leveraged existing components within the Pepsico design system during this process.

USer View

I took the existing functionality of the apps and created a dashboard to house everything.

The inital view has:

• Your existing apps
• Access to the full catalogue of apps where you can request access

The "Modifying Access" button reveals the modify access form. I tried to implement consistent patterns across the app, enhancing its overall usability.

AdMIN View

Admin view required the functionality to review and approve app requests.

In this case access has been rejected.

OUTCOMES

I distributed Figma prototype links to all stakeholders accompanied by a brief poll. The stakeholders collectively suggested a preference for a unified portal rather than separate apps.
